Tuk is very special to our heart. Some may agree in saying that everything happens for a reason. We ended up with a dog named Tuk for just that reason. We here at Paws of Tomorrow, Inc. sponsored Tuk to offer him a chance. He came to us with injuries that were far more extensive than anyone could have thought. Our first thought when looking at Tuk was………Boy, we are going to have our hands full. We took him to the vet and they explained that he needed immediate surgery. After hearing the amount of pain that dog was in and had been for so long, we were amazed at how great he had been. At that time we promised him we would not abandon him. We assure him we would come back for him and that we were going to help him. They did the surgery and told us he could come home. We pick him up and he was just a bundle of joy. So happy and so appreciative. Right now at his foster home, Tuk has his own room, where he can get away from things. This gives him space to get comfortable, feel safe, and heal appropriately. He loves attention, and would lay for hours letting you rub his chest. He is kind of jumpy and skidish, most likely from abuse. But he has his safe spot, in the kennel. He makes sure you know how much he appreciates everything you do. He loves his new toy and cuddles up to it when he is afraid. No matter how much food he is given, he saves half of it….just in case he doesn’t get fed tomorrow. He hasn’t had a single accident in the house and is a perfect gentleman on a lease. He is trying so hard to be trusting but when he gets spooked he just runs in his kennel to hide until he is comfortable again. Although, he has NO food aggression at all. You can take the food right out of his mouth and he just gives you those sweet puppy eyes asking “Please”. Of all of the rescued dogs I have ever been around, he is by far, the most appreciative and grateful. He has won our heart over in a matter of days. He makes you realize how rewarding it can be to help an abandoned animal. It really is true, that no dog will ever love you like an abandon dog. When you look in their eyes and see the joy you have brought to them by simply offering a little love. The way they hold on to blankets or toys they are given, like they are the greatest treasure they could receive. They just want to feel safe!!! Tuk is so grateful for this opportunity that we will forever hold him dear. Tuk is still holding out for the perfect forever home. We are being VERY selective on where we let this dog go because we would love to keep him ourselves......which we considered but, we need the space to help other animals in need. He is a great dog and will be the PERFECT pet for someone. He has been tested with other dogs and cats. He is fine with the dogs the only problem we had was that he wants to play with everything and small dogs and cats look like toys to him. He wouldn't ever mean to hurt them but it would be possible because he jumps on them to get them to play. He is currently being fostered with a 10lb dog and has been fine, you just have to remind him to play softly. Please consider Tuck for you home. More about TukGood with Dogs, Good with Kids Paws of Tomorrow is not a shelter, we are a foster based rescue group. All of our dogs are in foster homes and we require a completed application prior to visiting our doggies. We want to know a little about you before sending you to meet our volunteers. All of our dogs are on our website. If they have "pending" after their name, they are pending adoption. Some of our dogs have "foster me" after their names. This means they need a foster home until they are adopted. Please fill out a foster application if you can help by fostering. We do adopt out of state but you must pick your new baby up from us. Our adoption fee is $300 for all doggies and puppies. If you have additional questions, we recommend for you to email us at adopt@pawsoftomorrow.dog. All calls go to voicemail, which may take a few days to be returned. We are all volunteers so please bear with us. |
