Chester is a sweet and gentle soul who has come a long way from when he was found matted, starving and barely able to walk in Dec 2008. When Chester was first picked up we had to shave his fur because he was so matted, which revealed an emaciated frame with almost no muscle.  You can see from his photos now that he has completely recovered.

Chester is : happy-all-the-time, a tiny bit shy, avoids conflicts with other dogs but seeks their company, shares his toys, non-possessive of food, doesn’t lick, doesn’t jump on anyone ever, doesn’t get on the furniture, and NEVER barks. Loves to be petted but doesn’t paw you for attention just stands in front of you waiting patiently. Loves to go for walks but starts to get tired at about the ¾ mile mark.  Likes to close his eyes and rest his head on your knee when you’re petting him.  Hates to be yelled at. Is very affectionate and will follow you around when he’s not sleeping.

His one back leg (the left one) is very weak- probably arthritis but it doesn’t stop him from running but his back legs just hop together like a bunny when he runs (which is not very often but he get frisky and does a little trot once in a while.) But he does wipe out on smooth floors or when turning around in a tight space. But he just picks himself up and shakes it off like it’s no big deal. He’s enjoys car rides and tries to help me by climbing into the car now or at least getting his front paws up and waiting for me to push him the rest of the way since his back legs are not strong enough to propel him.

Chester’s ideal forever home would have someone who could come home and let him out on their lunch hour or who works from home/retired. Someone who could pay attention to his body cues – since he doesn’t bark or whine you have to see him standing by the door to go out or else he’ll just pace around you.

With or without cats and dogs he is fine.  He’s fine with kids of all ages.  This guy just wants a place to call home and enjoy being your friend.

Adoption Fee: $100
Please consdier offering this guy a foster home.

Chester will not be neutered because our vets feel that at his age it would be too hard on him.

More about Chester-Foster Me

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Paws of Tomorrow is not a shelter, we are a foster based rescue group. All of our dogs are in foster homes and we require a completed application prior to visiting our doggies. We want to know a little about you before sending you to meet our volunteers. All of our dogs are on our website. If they have "pending" after their name, they are pending adoption. Some of our dogs have "foster me" after their names. This means they need a foster home until they are adopted. Please fill out a foster application if you can help by fostering.  We do adopt out of state but you must pick your new baby up from us. Our adoption fee is $300 for all doggies and puppies.  If you have additional questions, we recommend for you to email us at adopt@pawsoftomorrow.dog. All calls go to voicemail, which may take a few days to be returned. We are all volunteers so please bear with us.
